Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) The premiere of "Misa a Buenos Aires", or "Misa Tango", as some call it due to its "tango nuevo" influences, took place in 1996 in Argentina. Originally, it's for mezzo-soprano, choir, bandoneón, piano, and string orchestra. The version on this album is arranged by "faux pas" for a smaller chamber ensemble. It's great work, because even in this reduced setting, the music doesn't lose any of its power and fascination. Here's a stunning live excerpt: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyGnZZISIV8 Favorite track: Agnus Dei.
