about

Originally founded in 1998 and still led today by Swiss accordionist and bandoneonist Marlène Clément, tango sextet faux pas from Northern Germany is popular with German tango lovers as well as international audiences in Europe, South America and Asia.

Influenced by a recent trip to Argentina, they have arranged and recorded a fine selection of traditional tangos and tango nuevo pieces by composers like Astor Piazzolla, Graham Lynch and Richard Galliano. Both instrumental and vocal tangos can be found on this CD, some with guest vocalist Mario Pinnola from Buenos Aires.

The sextet’s interpretations are convincing throughout, with a beautiful clarity of sound and arrangement. While highlighting each musician’s individual virtuosity and sensitivity, this recording also presents a powerful ensemble sound fuelled by emotion.
